RCEP and Indian farmers

    India ranks first in milk production providing 16% of milk globally because of the white revolution held in 1970's. This white revolution was started by the establishment of  National Dairy Development Board ( NDDB ) by father of white revolution in India, Padma-Vibhushan Dr. Verghese kuerin (Known for Operation Flood). Today, India needs another Technological White Revolution  because there is lot more to improve technically in this field.Some of the Indian farmers are using the semi automatic robotic milking machines, most are still using conventional time consuming methods.

          Robotic milking is a technology run by the automatic machines(commonly known as robots) without any human labours. This Method is easy as compared to traditional one. In this method various things are held such as cleaning of the cows and the barn too, arrangement of milking robots, arrangement of the fixed amount of feed to be given to the cows, waste disposals , extraction of milk, removing of robots (if the robots are fully automatic then there is no need of attaching and removing of machines but this kind costs so high that the average Indian farmer cant afford).This technique is done during the lactation period of the cows(around 300 days).

      Recently, India opted out of RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership). The main reason many economists is that Australia and Newzealand are also RCEP members and are far ahead than India in milk processing. Indian farmers will be largely affected by the milk products from these countries. As the population of these countries is less and are also one of the largest producers of milk Australia and Newzealand exports milk.

          Proper actions should be taken in order to place our country technologically well in this field.
